UNIFORM POLICY

Please review the uniform requirements with your son or daughter.  Students must be in uniform at all times, including off-campus functions such as funerals and wakes when students are representing Kennedy Catholic.  Look-alikes, regardless of what your son or daughter may tell you, are not permissible.  Students that arrive in non-uniform slacks, shirts, shoes, etc., will be detained in the Main Office until a parent arrives with a proper uniform.

 

Please direct all inquiries regarding uniform orders, payment, delivery dates and alterations directly to Scholastic Specialties at (800) 955-3466.  Please be patient and do not wait until later this month to ask your questions, as Scholastic Specialties services schools from Vermont to Virginia.  Students with allergies should speak with the company about alternate fabrics.

 

The Proper Uniform:

 

Ø      All tenth- to twelfth-grade students must wear a navy or white Kennedy polo shirt (long or short-sleeved).  Ninth-grade students may only wear navy.  Students must have on a plain white T-shirt under the polo shirt (a long-sleeved T-shirt MAY NOT be worn under a short-sleeved polo shirt).

Ø      All students must wear black leather shoes ONLY!

Ø      All students must wear a plain black belt.  No oversized belts, and no ornaments of any kind should be on or attached to the belt.

Ø      All students may wear the school-approved blue fleece or a Kennedy sweater.

Ø      Girls must wear a khaki uniform skirt or skort ONLY!  The uniform skirt may not measure more than 1 inch above the knee.

Ø      Girls must wear beige pantyhose, navy tights or navy/white socks with the uniform skirt or skort.

Ø      Girls may not wear outlandish makeup or nail polish

Ø      Boys must be clean-shaven and have appropriate length hair.

Ø      Boys are not allowed to wear any jewelry, makeup or nail polish.

 

All Students:

 

Ø      ALL slacks must fit properly on the waist and not bunch up at the ankle.

Ø      NO tight fitting or stretch slacks.

Ø      NO hip-hugger style slacks

Ø      NO baggy pants.

Ø      NO cargo slacks.

Ø      NO flare or bell-bottom slacks.

Ø      NO hooded sweatshirts.

Ø      NO bare midriffs.

Ø      NO bare chests.

Ø      NO platform shoes, open-toed shoes, flip-flops, sandals, sneakers or slippers.

Ø      NO choker chains.

Ø      NO jewelry, tongue or body piercing.  Exception: girls may wear one small pair of stud earrings (only on stud per ear).

Ø      NO fad haircuts or fad bleached/dyed hair.

Ø      NO chains hanging from slacks, pockets, etc.

 

In other words just the uniform—no substitutes or additions.  The uniform must be neat, clean and wrinkle free at all times.

 

Students out of uniform will receive an Infraction and WILL NOT be permitted to attend class.  Those students will receive a zero for all missed assignments and tests until they return in full uniform.  A parent/guardian will be contacted to bring in the appropriate uniform if necessary.  Any tests or assignments missed due to an improper uniform MAY NOT be made up.
