ANNUAL FUND
Dear Friends of Kennedy Catholic,
Since the dawn of time, humankind’s most impressive accomplishments have relied on strong foundations. What lasting edifice does not first begin with the pouring of concrete? What society in the world does not start with a set of just laws and righteous people to serve as leaders? Just as God told his faithful servant in Matthew’s Gospel, “You are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church,” so too did John F. Kennedy Catholic High School come to be.
On the backs of the Sisters of the Divine Compassion, St. Mary’s School was built and has grown into the Kennedy Catholic that stands today. Eighty-three years later, the Sisters continue to educate future generations of alumni with courage and compassion, none more beloved than Sister Christopher. Many of you recall class with Sister Christopher, or remember fondly her presence in the building. It’s been 55 years since she first started teaching at St. Mary’s in Katonah, and in honor of her continuing commitment to Catholic education, this year’s Annual Fund is being dedicated to her ongoing efforts.
It is with great pleasure that I announce the establishment of the Sister Mary Christopher Tree of Life. To be situated across from St. Mary’s Chapel in the Commons so that all will know the good work Sister Christopher continues to do, this Tree of Life will be presented to her at the 2008 President’s Dinner on May 1. Please use the link below to help plant the seeds that will bring the Sister Mary Christopher Tree of Life to fruition in our school.
I also cannot stress enough the importance of our Annual Fund. Each year the Annual Fund subsidizes a portion of tuition for every student and enables us to make improvements throughout the school. All of the positive changes you’ve been hearing and reading about—wireless Internet, laptops for every teacher, a new security system and renovated computer labs—is a direct result of generosity to the Annual Fund. Please give what you can, because that generosity is already making a big difference in the lives of our students.
Like a gardener to his orchard, I look to you as benefactors of this school to keep the mighty trunk that is Kennedy Catholic growing strong. So if you remember Sister Christopher and the lessons she taught in and out of the classroom, please remember her philanthropically this year with a gift to the Sister Mary Christopher Tree of Life.
Yours in Christ,
Fr. Stephen P. Norton
President
