CLASS OF 1998
10 Years After
Class of ’98 back together after a decade
The Class of 1998 came back to Kennedy on Nov. 22 to celebrate four years of shared memories and the decade of ones it has made on its own.
Some 50 classmates and guests ate, drank and shared music and merriment in the Lakeview Room (a.k.a. the cafeteria), thanks in no small part to the corralling efforts of reunion reps Donnie Giuseppi and Katie Stuart Pelkey. Fun was had by all as the alumni roamed the old halls and classrooms, peeking into the occasional unlocked locker in search of some small piece of history.
One particularly memorable sight was that of the class, led by Dan Aitchison, sifting through a collection of Emmaus banners, .jpg) finding theirs and the flood of memories they brought back. Another was watching Mark Drapala hoist himself upon onto the ledge in the library to snap a shot of his name on a plaque as the 1996 winner of the Michael Anderson Memorial Award for outstanding performance, leadership, sportsmanship and character as a member of the varsity football team.
A lot had changed in 10 years. Marriage for some, children for others; there was certainly much to celebrate as old friends reconnected, some for the first time since graduation. Afterward, the party headed north to the Claddagh Pub & Grill where the festivities continued into the wee hours (and a certain alumni director was done in for the night).
And who knows what the future holds. A 15-year celebration to be sure, but a Kennedy bowling league? Stay tuned and stay in touch Class of ’98!
