MEN'S VARSITY
No words can describe the excitement that comes from watching one of your children/athletes come from 15 meters behind to pass the baton to his teammate who finishes a four person relay 15 meters ahead of everyone else. This is exactly what happened in a 4X100 meter relay at the league championships. The event is one of the most exciting in the sport and is the equivalent of a double pump, reverse dunk in basketball. With about 20 athletes on the team, the size nearly doubled over last year, but both coaches believe that more athletes are needed in order to become league champions. Kennedy Catholic has the speed, strength, and will to win; it’s just a matter of having those athletes come out for the team. Coach Bergmeier and Coach Elliot co-coach the boys and girls. Coach Bergmeier works mainly with the runners and the hurdlers while Coach Elliot focuses on the jumping and throwing events.
