PersonnelPRESIDENT/PRINCIPAL September 2009My Dear Friends in Christ,
Thank you for joining me here in cyberspace. We have much to be grateful about as a school community, for the Lord has blessed Kennedy Catholic with many good gifts, not the least of which is our new status as a private school here in Northern Westchester, as well as a clear vision for the future of this institution.
I, for one, am thankful for this community that has embraced me over the past year, as it has my many predecessors, giving its latest shepherd exactly what he needed: your prayers, your support and a chance to learn. Here’s what I’ve discovered…
I have learned that this community is more than what we call it. Whether you knew it as St. Mary’s in Katonah, JFK here in Somers or our present redefining as the new Kennedy Catholic, it is the people—our alumni, parents, students and teachers—that make this community so unique.
It is people like the Sisters of the Divine Compassion, whose love and guidance laid the foundations for our school, as well as foundations of faith in the lives of countless young men and women. This year, we are pleased to welcome our inaugural board of directors in Joseph M. Costello ’58, Lawrence E. Dwyer ’61, Nancy Boutross-Knight ’76, Warren J. Lucas ’72 and the Rev. Robert F. McKeon, pastor of St. Lawrence O’Toole in Brewster. Their resumes speak for themselves, and like the Sisters before them, they will help guide our school with courage and compassion.
Throughout our 86-year history, it has been the members of this community who have made Kennedy Catholic the school of excellence it is today. It will continue to be the people of this community who will ensure a long and prosperous future for the new Kennedy Catholic High School.
And that is something we can all be thankful for!
