Spring Sports & Updated Physicals

All students interested in playing a spring sport are reminded that sports participation forms must be on file prior to the first day of tryouts.  New York State Law requires that sports participation forms be filed within 30 days of tryouts.

Students are encouraged to submit all forms to the Health Office no earlier than February 8 and no later than February 19 to allow time for them to be processed and for lists to be created for the coaches.  Spring sports begin in early March.

Please direct all concerns to Mrs. Jones at (914) 232-8571.

SAT Prep Course
Mr. Thomas Courtney will be conducting a preparation course for the SAT.  This course is for juniors, but sophomores who are interested in early test preparation may also apply. It is proven that this type of preparation can increase test scores if the students are serious, attend class sessions regularly and put in a good deal of effort. The course will be offered at Kennedy Catholic on Wednesdays from Feb. 3 through April 28, from 3 – 6 p.m. An information packet will be mailed home to all interested juniors and sophomores with registration information.
FAFSA Applications Now Being Accepted
You must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if you want to apply for federal and state financial aid.  Many colleges and universities, especially public institutions, also require the FAFSA. The best option to complete the application is through the web-based version of the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov. It includes step by step instructions for completing the online FAFSA, as well as pre-application worksheets.  You can obtain a PIN to electronically sign the form by visiting www.pin.ed.gov.  The application can be submitted any time after Jan. 1.
College Notes
All seniors who request their midyear grades to be sent to colleges were to submit a midyear request form to Mrs. O’Donnell.  This form was distributed in homeroom earlier in the month.  Also, any student who has been accepted with scholarship to any college must submit a copy of that letter to his or her guidance counselor.
